First Contact by Michael R. Hicks

The Terran survey ship Aurora makes a startling discovery in an uncharted star system: two planets inhabited by an advanced, and decidedly unfriendly, non-human civilization. Disabled by gigantic alien warships before it can escape, the Aurora is boarded by nightmarish blue-skinned warriors with claws and fangs who slaughter the crew in ritual combat using primitive weapons. The sole survivor, Midshipman Ichiro Sato, is returned to Earth as a messenger bearing a device that warns of an impending attack.

Lorna Doone; a Romance of Exmoor by R.D. Blackmore
FREE: Lorna Doone a Romance of Exmoor by R.D. Blackmore

First published in 1869, Lorna Doone is the story of John Ridd, a farmer who finds love amid the religious and social turmoil of seventeenth - century England. He is just a boy when his father is slain by the Doones, a lawless clan inhabiting wild Exmoor on the border of Somerset and Devon. Seized by curiosity and a sense of adventure, he makes his way to the valley of the Doones, where he is discovered by the beautiful Lorna. In time their childish fantasies blossom into mature love - a bond that will inspire John to rescue his beloved from the ravages of a stormy winter, rekindling a conflict with his archrival, Carver Doone, that climaxes in heartrending violence. Beloved for its portrait of star-crossed lovers and its surpassing descriptions of the English countryside, Lorna Doone is R. D. Blackmore’s enduring masterpiece.

The Babylonian Legends of the Creation by Sir E. A. Wallis Budge
The Babylonian Legends of the Creation by Sir E. A. Wallis Budge

Legendary historian E.A. Wallis Budge translated the then newly discovered tablets, to uncover an amazing creation myth, which parallels, and predates, the Genesis story of the Old Testament. In recent years, researchers such as Erich von Däniken, Zecharia Sitchin and David Icke have used this ancient tale of the Annunaki gods as a basis for the ancient astronaut and Reptilian shape shifter theories. This is the original translation of the tablets.

Witch, Warlock, and Magician Historical Sketches of Magic and Witchcraft in England and Scotland by W. H. Davenport (William Henry Davenport) Adams
FREE: Witch, Warlock, and Magician by W. H. Davenport Adams

Witch, Warlock, and Magician Historical Sketches of Magic and Witchcraft in England and Scotland W. H. Davenport (William Henry Davenport) Adams.
In this 1889 work, Adams gives a general introduction to alchemy in Europe and traces the development of magic and alchemy in England from the fourteenth century onwards. Initially the disciplines were persecuted by the Church and met with 'the prejudice of the vulgar', languishing throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In Book 1 Adams portrays the English 'magicians' Roger Bacon, whom he considers to have been ahead of his contemporaries; John Dee and William Lilly, astrologists of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, respectively; and the English Rosicrucians. Book 2 is a historical account of witchcraft in England and Scotland, from the middle ages to the witch trials of the seventeenth century, and includes a chapter on witchcraft in literature.

The Underground City, or, the Child of the Cavern by Jules Verne
“The Child Of The Cavern” is set beneath the earth in an underground coal mine in Scotland. A newly discovered vein of coal revitalizes this nearly abandoned subterranean village, but strange events start occurring that the populace cannot explain. Is there someone else living in these dark and narrow mines? The first part is actually amazing on the geology, industry, etc. It is relatively strange knowing that plate tectonics was to be revealed only 100yrs after this book was written.
