Date Night on Union Station (EarthCent Ambassador Book 1) by E. M. Foner FREE: Date Night on Union Station by E. M. Foner

Kelly Frank is EarthCent's top diplomat on Union Station, but her job description has always been a bit vague. The pay is horrible and she's in hock up to her ears for her furniture, which is likely to end up in a corridor because she's behind on rent for her room. Sometimes she has to wonder if the career she has put ahead of her personal life for fifteen years is worth it. When Kelly receives a gift subscription to the dating service that's rumored to be powered by the same benevolent artificial intelligence that runs the huge station, she decides to swallow her pride and give it a shot. But as her dates go from bad to worse, she can only hope that the supposedly omniscient AI is planning a happy ending.

The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry
FREE: The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry

In a shabby New York flat, Della sobs as she counts the few coins she has saved to buy a Christmas present for her husband, Jim. A gift worthy of her devotion will require a great sacrifice: selling her long, beautiful hair. Jim, meanwhile, has made a sacrifice for Della that is no less difficult. As they exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, the discovery of what each has done fills them with despair, until they realize that the true gifts of Christmas can be found more readily in their humble apartment than in any fine store. O. Henry paints a masterly portrait of unfaltering love, a haven from the harsh world outside. The poignancy of his story is captured in P.J. Lynch's eloquent art, wherein every glance, every gesture, tells a subtle truth.

The Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton
FREE: The Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton

The Federalist (later known as The Federalist Papers) is a collection of 85 articles and essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution. Seventy-seven were published serially in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet between October 1787 and August 1788. A compilation of these and eight others, called The Federalist; or, The New Constitution, was published in two volumes in 1788 by J. and A. McLean. It has been frequently remarked, that it seems to have been reserved to the people of the United States, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not, of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend, for their political constitutions, on accident and force. In Federalist No. 51, Madison distills arguments for checks and balances in an essay often quoted for its justification of government as "the greatest of all reflections on human nature."

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
FREE: As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

Drawn from the Biblical text which reads, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” James Allen’s work As a Man Thinketh has been for over a century a guide and inspiration for those who need direction and to find their path in life. Allen makes the bold yet simple assertion that a man can be successful if he thinks it’s so, and a man will fail if he thinks that, too. This work may be brief, but its timeless message of hope and empowerment compels readers to stand up and take responsibility for their own success.

FREE: The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain

The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson is set in the fictional Missouri frontier town of Dawson's Landing on the banks of the Mississippi River in the first half of the 19th century. David Wilson, a young lawyer, moves to town and a clever remark of his is misunderstood, which causes locals to brand him a "pudd'nhead" – a nitwit. His hobby of collecting fingerprints does not raise his standing in the townsfolk's eyes, who see him as an eccentric and do not frequent his law practice.
