After promises from top New York lawyer Sefton Jelks that a plea of guilty will lead to leniency, proceedings in front of an aggressive Judge Atkins, Jelks does a deal involving Bradshaw's father and 'Harry' ends up with a six year jail sentence in Lavernham prison.

Chaperoned by experienced con Pat Quinn he survives the prison ordeals.

Meanwhile, Emma Barrington Harry's partner is seeking the truth. Searching through family history and genealogy, travelling to the USA, tracking family heroes (Giles) interred in POW camps, the outcome is a novel of tension.

Reviews from Amazon:

The Clifton Chronicles are superb! A really great read, can't wait until the third book is released. Make sure you are sitting comfortably when you start as you won't be able to set the book down!
Another great read in the mould of Kane and Able. Archer's story telling keeps you gripped from page one till the end. Finished the book in a weekend, couldn't put it down.
Was desperate to read this as had thoroughly enjoyed the first book. This was equally as good but felt it a bit short. However did expect a good ending this time but I suppose Jeffrey wants to make sure we will all buy the next in the series which I will certainly be looking forward to, hope it is not too far in the distance.
Having read the first two of this trilogy I am looking forward to the third and final one. Mr Archer has written them in such a way that the end leaves you wondering what happens next, just like a serial. Is this a way of selling his books? A shame if it is because he is a very readable author who does not need to do this. I will buy the third one from Amazon for my kindle anyway because they are such page turners.
