Description:

Who is Hassan and what is behind his mysterious Valentine message to Amina? Who is the young beauty chased across a lorry park in the early hours?

These are the questions local phone-in host Marc Niven struggles with as he is drawn deeper into the city's secret places.

The question he already knows the answer to - why did Sam leave him so suddenly? - is the one that troubles him most.

A taut thriller ... A near-cinematic stylist, the author deftly sustains the tension right up until the final segment ... a sterling example of astute character studies melded with highly topical concerns.

The relationship between hero (Marc) and just-stopping-short-of-stalker, Oliver is a joy to read. -- Bookbag September 13, 2010

Terror and trafficking on Tyneside - 11:59 boils two of the most insidious horrors of our society down to a local level with great effect. The evocative setting exposes a still grimy underbelly to the slick new twenty-first century image favoured by the media and in Marc Niven, gives us a DJ protagonist whose own moral compass is decidedly out of kilter. Against this backdrop, the author takes us on a fast-paced thrill ride where the crime is uncomfortably close to home and all the better for it. Should come with a warning - this really could be happening in your town. Great stuff!
