Description:

The recipes behind the Indian restaurant curry are an extremely closely guarded secret. In the pages of The Curry Secret Indian restaurateur Kris Dhillon breaks with tradition and reveals all so that anyone can recreate those unique and authentic flavours in their own kitchen.

There is truly no other curry book like this one. The recipes are not the traditional cuisine practised by Indians at home but the distinctive and well-loved variety served in Indian restaurants worldwide. Since its first publication nearly twenty years ago The Curry Secret has been a best seller.

It has grown, by word of mouth and reader recommendation, into a cult classic – it has even spawned internet forums where readers rave about the sauce. Following requests from those readers, Kris Dhillon has now updated the book to include a wider choice of dishes and brand new recipes for even more mouthwatering curries as well as all the established favourites.

From Chicken Tikka Masala to Onion Bhajee, Aloo Gobi to Lamb Biryani, everyone’s favourite is here.

Reviews from Amazon:

I had always wondered how my local Indian takeaway could conjure up such delectable dishes in so short a time. Now I know. This book is a little gem. The recipes are marvellous, the instructions clear and concise and, without doubt, the results are Indian restaurant standard. Absolutely no doubt about that. A brilliant, priceless book at a very reasonable price. I actually find the fact that there are no photographs in the book to be another plus, sometimes such photos can be a hindrance and a distraction to the job at hand and the recipes are much more accessible and easy to follow as a result. Do yourself a 'flavour' and buy this book!

This book is "The one"! Invest the time to make the base sauce (tip: carefully follow the instructions about keeping the saucepan lid on! - alternatively leave the kitchen door open as the smell is awful!) and then use it to make any of the curries you would find in a tycurry-secretsal British curry house - with authentic taste, texture and appearance.

I have bought many copies of this book for my friends and family and they in turn have bought copies for theirs. You will impress everyone with your curry cooking skills and become a legend in your own lifetime - seriously! This book is easy to follow and the results are awesome... it is the best bargain on the bookshelf - time for me to buy another copy as my current one is stained yellow and brown and has mangled pages from so much use.
----------
A very informative book with lots of popular dishes. The instruction is very good and easy to follow. To embark on most of the dishes you need specialist ingredients not readily available and the nations favourite supermarket giants but easily obtainable through the vast array of Asian supermarkets at very sensible prices. A must have for all kitchens.

I bought this book because my son has a really dog eared one which he uses all the time and he brought it for me to look at.I love the pill au rice and some of the snacks and nibbles. However, I have not tried the curry sauce recipe. My son has and he says it is too watery. The book is so reasonably cheap though that it is worth buying for the pillau rice recipe alone.
