This is a lovely version of the traditional French fairy tale, by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont, first published in 1756. The story is well known; Young virtuous Beauty has to stay with the Beast in order to honor her father's promise and save his life. Her kindness and ability to see beyond appearances grants her the fairy tale happy ending. This romantic story praises unconditional love and nobility of character and is a great read for both children and adults. Sadly this book doesn't have any pictures, although it does describe the illustrations and indicate where they were supposed to be, which is really unfortunate especially for children.
